About the Speaker

Andrés Couve studied biology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds a PhD in cell biology from the School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York as well as a postdoctoral degree in neuroscience from University College London (UCL). He has served as President of the Chilean Society of Cell Biology and has participated actively in bodies promoting policies on science. He has also served on the Board of the Puerto de Ideas Foundation and as a member of the working group on innovation of Chile’s Manufacturers’ Society (SOFOFA). In 2011, he led the creation of the Millennium Institute for Biomedical Neuroscience (BNI) of which he was director.
